Quebec’s auditor general to investigate elementary schools amid increase in classroom challenges

A report by the Auditor General of Quebec (VGQ) is set to be released next spring, analyzing classroom management in preschool and elementary schools.
The auditor’s investigation is being conducted to determine whether classrooms in Quebec are conducive to learning, given that there are more and more students with intervention plans and that cases of violence in classrooms are on the rise.
Officials say they hope the report will aid in identifying and solving problems in education.
Many students and teachers are facing increasing challenges, such as more classroom violence and learning difficulties, as well as the presence of many teachers who are not legally qualified.
A report by the Auditor General a few years ago found that a quarter of the teachers hired in Quebec for the 2020–2021 school year were not legally qualified for their duties.
This year’s report is highly anticipated in the education field and will also look into school-based childcare services.
