More than 1.6 million Quebecers have voted in advanced polling, more than in 2022

More than quarter of Quebecers have cast their ballots ahead of the Oct. 5 provincial election.

A total of 25.31 per cent — or or 1.6 million — of the province’s 6.4 million eligible Quebecers voted in advance polling, according to figures released by Élections Québec on Thursday.

The turn out during advance polling has already overtaken the early voter participation rate of 24.5 from 2022 with one more day left to go.

Among Quebec’s electoral districts, Louis-Hébert in the Capitale-Nationale recorded the highest turnout, with 39.67 per cent of voters casting their ballots early.

Ungava, the most northern provincial electoral district in Quebec, recorded the lowest voter turnout at 9.48 per cent.

The percentages include voting since advanced polling began.

Advance voting began Sunday at select polling stations. Earlier voting at the offices of returning officers took place Friday and Saturday. Students at participating institutions were also able to vote on campus Friday.

On Oct. 5, polling stations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
