The voting day is finally here and Quebecers have a final opportunity today to have their say who gets to lead them for the next four years.
More than a quarter, or 1.6 million, of the eligible voters cast their ballots in early voting, according to Élections Québec.
A total of 908 candidates is in the race either representing one of 20 registered parties or are running as independents to fill 125 seats in the Quebec National Assembly.
More than 15,000 polling stations across 3,000 locations in the province will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The assigned polling location for voters can be found in the reminder cards sent to them by mail or on the Élections Québec website or by calling 1‑888‑ELECTION.
Voters are asked to bring one of the following pieces of identification:
- Québec driver’s licence
- Health insurance card
- Canadian passport
- Indian status card
- Canadian Forces identification card
Voters are not required to bring their reminder card, but Élections Québec says it could speed up the process.
About 94 per cent of them are accessible to those with mobility challenges. Élections Québec provides information on the accessibility of polling locations. If a polling location does not meet a person’s needs, they can contact their returning officer to vote at another location.
Preliminary results will be available staring at 8 p.m. after the polling stations close on CityNews elections page.
