A car that had been stranded in Mille-Îles River near Terrebonne since March was successfully pulled out of the water Wednesday morning.
The car was lifted out of the river by helicopter.
“The operation was successful,” authorities said in a news release. “The vehicle has now been removed from the river and will be towed to our impound lot.”
The operation was undertaken jointly by the Terrebonne/Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Filion Police Department and the Laval Police Department.
“An operation of this nature presents numerous challenges that must be carefully assessed to ensure the safety of the personnel involved, the public, and nearby infrastructure,” police said.
The car became stuck there in March, and an attempt to remove the vehicle from the water in July was unsuccessful.
