SQ investigating reports of needles in Halloween candy in Quebec

By The Canadian Press

Parents have already filed two reports with the police regarding dangerous objects inserted into candy handed out to children on Halloween night, Saturday, in Quebec.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirms that one of these reports involves a needle found in a small piece of chocolate in Drummondville, in the Centre-du-Québec region.

The other case involves a metal pin inserted into chocolate during a trick-or-treating event in Saint-Marcel, a small municipality of 454 residents in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

Both cases are under investigation by the SQ.

Authorities are reminding parents of the importance of sorting through their children’s Halloween candy after they return home. Parents are encouraged to report any dangerous objects found in the candy to their local police station.
