PSPP and Carney will meet twice before the end of the year

By Patrice Bergeron, The Canadian Press

Prime Minister Mark Carney and premier Paul St-Pierre Plamondon will finally meet twice before the end of the year, the first time in Cambodia during the Francophonie Summit, the second in Quebec City probably in December.

That was indicated by a spokesperson for the Parti Québécois government on Thursday.

“Both sides agree that an in-person meeting as soon as possible is better than a virtual meeting,” a federal source told The Canadian Press Thursday morning.

“We are open to another working meeting in Quebec City at a timely time,” the federal spokesperson added.

Last week, St-Pierre Plamondon refused to take part in the Summit between Canada and the European Union because Ottawa refused to let him speak.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister’s office in Ottawa proposed dates for meetings in Montreal or Ottawa-Gatineau, but St-Pierre Plamondon demanded that his meeting with Carney take place in Quebec City, in accordance with the National Capital Act.
