Officials with the St. James United Church in downtown Montreal were stunned on Monday when they found graffiti on the front of the building.
“This is new for us. Since the 133 years of the church, this is the first incident of graffiti on our building. It is particularly troubling as we have entered into Holy Week and this coming weekend is Easter,” explained Jacky Lalonde, Executive Director of St. James United Church, by e-mail to CityNews.
“We have reported the incident to the police, who will be making a report of the incident – and once this is done it will be removed.”

It was still visible on Tuesday morning on the front façade of the church on Ste-Catherine west, near St. Alexander. Some also next to the church stairs and more directly above a sculpture that represents Jesus as part of the homeless community.
The graffiti message does not seem to be anti-religious.
