Quebec’s Jeanick Fournier has won the inaugural season of Canada’s Got Talent.

Fournier was the last contestant of Tuesday night’s final. Her powerful vocals in her rendition of ‘The Show Must Go On’ by Queen, was enough to sweep Canadians off their feet once again, this time crowning her CGT’s first Canadian champion.

Guest judge for the episode Simon Cowell said after Fournier’s song, “You wrapped up just the most extraordinary night.

“Your story is just really, really incredible. And based on everyone I’ve met tonight, I think I want to live in Canada. The final wouldn’t have been the same without you. I understand why the public chose you. It was a great song choice.”

Fournier opened the contest by receiving country singer, Lindsey Ell’s golden buzzer in auditions with her rendition of ‘I Surrender’ by Celine Dion.

The 49-year-old from Chicoutimi – who is a palliative-care attendant – would later go on to stun Canadians again in the semi-finals by singing ‘Never Enough’ from the feature film ‘The Greatest Showman’, and winning the public vote for the round.

Along with the crown of the first CGT champion, Fournier won $150,000 and will participate in America’s Got Talent.
