Arson at Accurso’s daughter’s home in Deux-Montagnes: report

By News Staff

Police believe a home in Deux-Montagnes was targeted by arsonists overnight.

Firefighters were called to a blaze on 15th Avenue around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

No one was inside the home at the time.

Once the fire was out, fire crews allegedly found traces of accelerant and the case was transferred to the Deux-Montagnes police.

TVA Nouvelles and La Presse are reporting the home belongs to the daughter of former construction magnate Tony Accurso.

In August, police were called after a shooting on that same street.

There was another reported incident there in July, when a vehicle allegedly belonging to Tony Accurso’s son was set on fire.

No one was injured in either of those events. It is not known if there are links between the July, August, and Tuesday incidents.

Accurso, a former construction entrepreneur, was found to be part of a system of fraudulent public contracts given by the City of Laval when former Mayor Gilles Vaillancourt was in power.

Both men were found guilty of corruption and fraud among other charges.
