Final weekend of snowboarding competition on St. Denis urban snowpark

By News Staff

For the second weekend in a row, Montreal skiers and snowboarders didn’t have to go far to enjoy their winter activity of choice.

Saturday marked the beginning of the final weekend for the APIK snowboarding and skiing competition.

Montreal’s St. Denis Street – between Sherbrooke Street and Ontario Street – was turned into an urban snowpark in late February, with rails and jumps installed.

The competition pitted more than 100 riders competing for a $20,000 grand prize.

The event coincided with spring break in Montreal.

The city was expecting nearly 15 cm of snow Saturday.
