Ismaili Muslim community celebrates 50 years in Quebec

The Ismaili Muslim community is celebrating its 50th anniversary of settling in Quebec.
On June 19, to mark the milestone, the community held a commemoration event at the Ismaili Community Centre and Jamatkhana in Brossard.
The event was set up to shed light on the “remarkable determination, unwavering work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by Ismaili Muslims” as they established themselves in Quebec and Canada in the 1970s.
It also featured stories of how the community overcame challenges over the years.
Highlighted within the event were stories of immigration and how the Ismaili Muslim community continues to have an impact on business, arts, education, and philanthropy within the province.
Senator, Mobina Jaffer, Quebec National Assembly Member, Linda Caron, Brossard Mayor Doreen Assaad, and Laval City Councillor Sandra El-Helou, were in attendance to celebrate the event.
