Highway 132 roadwork to affect overnight traffic starting Sunday

Upcoming paving work will affect night-time traffic on Highway 132 in Kahnawake through the middle of November, a Transport Quebec spokesperson confirmed this week.

The paving work will force one lane to be closed in each direction starting Sunday, from the railway lights at the boundary from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sunday to Wednesday nights and from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday night, said Transport Quebec spokesperson Karine Abdel.

The work will go on from the bounday for two kilometres west toward the Mercier Bridge.

The good news is, due to the nature of the work, it won’t last past the initial cold weather.

“There are dates to respect in paving work, so we don’t anticipate the work will last past mid-November,” Abdel said.

Abdel added that a second phase of paving work will be required on that stretch of roadway in the springtime and for motorists to be vigilant and to adjust their speeds accordingly.
