Police request help to identify suspect in St-Charles-Borromée homicide

The Sûreté du Québec is asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect in Wednesday’s fatal shooting in Saint-Charles-Borromée.

A 37-year-old man was shot and killed while sitting inside a parked SUV in a residential parking lot on Rang Double, with his young child in the back seat.

A woman who heard the child – made the gruesome discovery and alerted emergency services shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

“As for the child, who was sitting in the back seat, he was not injured. He is a child under the age of four, who has been taken in charge by the authorities,” said Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Sgt. Eloïse Cossette.

The victim is a local resident, whose identity has not been released.

The suspect is described as 20 to 50-year-old man, five-foot-10, weighing 178 lbs. with an average build.

He was dressed in black pants, a blue coat, and a black neck gaiter that concealed his face. He wore a dark-coloured (blue/black) bike helmet and a camouflage-patterned backpack. He was seen using a black “HIBOY” fatbike with oversized tires and front lights.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Sûreté du Québec is urging anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to contact their Criminal Information Center confidentially at 1-800-659-4264.
