French TV host and producer Thierry Ardisson, who notably created “Tout le monde en parle” in France, died Monday from liver cancer. He was 76 years old.

His family confirmed his death in a statement sent to Agence France-Presse, which stated that he “died as he lived”: “a courageous and free man.”

His partner, journalist Audrey Crespo-Mara, emphasized that Thierry Ardisson’s children, his family, and she remained united around him “until his last breath.”

Born on January 6, 1949, in Bourganeuf, Thierry Ardisson hosted numerous hit shows on French television, including “Bains de minuit,” “Paris Dernière,” “Lunettes noires pour nuits blanches,” and “Tout le monde en parle.”

He also had a prolific career as a television producer, including “Salut les Terriens!”, as well as in film, in addition to publishing several books. His most recent, “The Man in Black,” was released in May.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife expressed their condolences to Thierry Ardisson’s family and loved ones in a statement issued by the Élysée Palace.

“For decades, Thierry Ardisson imposed on the French audiovisual landscape a voice, a figure, a style, a spirit, tinged with curiosity and irreverence,” reads the official statement.

President Macron had also made him a Knight of the Legion of Honor in April 2024.

The previous month, Thierry Ardisson came to Quebec to participate in the 500th episode of the Quebec version of “Tout le monde en parle” (Everyone’s Talking About It).
