STM bus crashes into vehicles and restaurant patios in NDG, minor injuries reported

An STM bus crashed into three vehicles and struck two restaurant patios in Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood Wednesday afternoon after the driver a man in his 40s suffered a medical episode, police said.
SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said the bus driver and two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The collision happened around 2:45 p.m. on Monkland Avenue between Harvard and Oxford avenues.
There were about 20 passengers on the bus at the time.
Brabant described it as a “miracle” that no pedestrians were injured, given the presence of people near the patios and roadway.
Two restaurant patios were damaged in the crash, while the three vehicles and the bus had to be towed from the scene.
Police said Monkland Avenue reopened at 4:40 p.m. in both directions and there are no longer any road closures related to the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
