VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Canadians smiled from coast to coast. Tim Hortons says its annual Smile Cookie campaign raised a record $9.8 million across Canada for over 550 charities, hospitals and community groups.
The previous record in sales was $7.8 million in 2018.
This year’s campaign took place from Sept. 16 to 22, and the most cookies were sold at a location in Dunnville, Ontario. A single store there raised almost $43,000.
Lac-Mégantic, Quebec, a town of less than 6,000 people, managed to raise over $25,000.
The chocolate chunk cookies, decorated with blue eyes and a pink smile, go for $1 each during the fundraising campaign.
The first Smile Cookie was sold in 1996 to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario.
