MONTREAL (CITYNEWS) – Hundreds of people gathered at the foot of Mont-Royal to protest mandatory face masks Saturday.

The demonstration brought together people who categorically refuse to wear masks, saying it’s a matter of free choice.

Protesters loudly expressed their anger and skepticism about the COVID-19 pandemic. They didn’t practise social distancing and didn’t hesitate to hug.

Quebec’s new public health measures require mandatory masks in all public indoor spaces.

Deaths from coronavirus in Quebec continue to increase daily. Globally, more than 641,000 people have lost their lives to the virus.
