Montreal preteen makes Rubik’s Cube mural for NHL playoffs

MONTREAL (CityNews) – “Round 2!” is the caption of a 10-year-old Montrealer’s unique work of art: a massive mural showcasing the Montreal Canadiens’ and the Winnipeg Jets’ logos, but this isn’t an ordinary mosaic.

The art is made entirely of 2,500 Rubik’s Cubes, solved and placed on the blue, white and red sides to create the two teams’ emblems, facing off in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Benjamin Russo is known for his “cube art” and his latest installation is his biggest one to date. He created it in just two days.

Russo’s previous artwork, a mural portraying wrestler John Cena, went viral and attracted attention from the wrestler himself.

The 10-year-old is dyslexic and uses his platform and art to raise awareness about dyslexia. He calls it his superpower.

As for his latest piece, he hopes the Montreal Canadiens come out on top.
