CFL reschedules postponed Elks-Argos game, additional games adjusted

The CFL has announced a number of schedule changes after the Aug. 26 contest between the Edmonton Elks and Toronto Argonauts was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak with the Elks.

The Elks and Argonauts game will now be played on Nov. 16 — a Tuesday — in Toronto at 7:30 p.m. ET. The CFL says another organization agreed to make the date available to the league in exchange for future accommodations.

The new date for the game created a domino effect that impacted three other games.

• A game between the Roughriders and Elks on Nov. 5, which was originally scheduled to be played in Saskatchewan at 9:45 p.m. ET, will now be played in Edmonton.

• A game between the Roughriders and Elks on Nov. 13, which was originally scheduled to be played in Edmonton, will now be played in Saskatchewan at 4 p.m. ET.

• A game between the Blue Bombers and Alouettes on Nov. 13 will now start at 1 p.m. ET.

The CFL adds that, due to the changes, the Elks now have three games scheduled over a span of seven days. As a result, the league and CLFPA agreed that both teams in the following games will be allowed to add five additional players to their rosters:

• Elks at Argonauts on Nov. 16

• Elks at Lions on Nov. 19

The Elks had as many as 13 players test positive for COVID-19 over the course of their outbreak. A 10-day quarantine for all Tier 1 individuals was lifted on Tuesday and the team will return to the field against the Stampeders on Monday.
