By News Staff

Transport Quebec doing an about face on Wednesday, responding to outcries from Montreal-area drivers on the planned weekend closure of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel.

It had been announced just the day before that the tunnel connecting the south shore to Montreal would be closed Friday 12:30 a.m. to Monday 5 a.m. to install a work platform.

Now, the MTQ says it’s postponing the work.

Many drivers calling the situation ridiculous as tourists and others descend on the city for Grand Prix weekend.

Other planned closures will still be in effect – visit Quebec511.info for more.
