More COVID-19 deaths in first six months of 2022 in Quebec than all of 2021

There were more COVID-related deaths in the first six months of 2022, than in all of 2021 in Quebec.

3,741 Quebecers died of COVID-19 between Jan. 1 and June 28 of this year. That’s about 1,000 more than those who died during the same time frame last year.

The data, compiled by La Presse, shows 3,273 Quebecers died from the virus in all of 2021.

On Tuesday, Quebec reported 20 more deaths in the last 24 hours linked to the virus and 147 additional hospitalizations since Saturday.

There are three additional ICU cases, for a total of 39.

1,441 people are currently being treated for COVID-19 in hospital.

The province dealing with 278 outbreaks and 6,659 health care workers absent for COVID-related reasons.

Vaccination rates:  

-55 per cent of those 18+ have gotten a third dose, with 986 boosters administered in the last 24 hours

-15 per cent of those eligible have gotten a fourth shot, with 3,392 doses of the second booster administered in the last 24 hours

-6K+ doses administered last 24 hours, 20M+ total so far
