A pilot project was launched in the Ville-Marie borough to help keep Montrealers keep cool during the summer – a “La piscinette” downtown.
The salt water pool is open seven days a week at Jos-Montferrand Park from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. – corner Sainte-Catherine east and du Havre.
The pool was made using a recycled shipping container as officials say they were looking for ideas to combat heat islands. With more and more heat waves, solutions to keep residents cool are critical.
There isn’t only a pool to enjoy, but you can play beach volleyball on the onsite court too and enjoy a relaxation area with hammocks, chairs, picnic tables and umbrellas.

There is access to a games box with volleyballs, rackets, shovels and buckets for playing in the sand.
There will be kid-friendly programming from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and other organizations (Mon-Thurs 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends).
Reading material and a board games box is provided by Ville-Marie libraries.
The city hopes to expand the pilot project.
