Residence Herron where 47 seniors died during the pandemic has been sold

The Dorval senior’s residence where 47 people died during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic – has been sold for $11 million.
The Chowieri family – which owned the facility when the tragedy occurred – sold two other problematic seniors’ homes they also owned in Sorel-Tracy.
La Presse is reporting they made $32.5 million in less than a year on the sale of the three facilities.
The new owner of Herron is Les Logement Urbains which owns buildings with private rooms and common spaces in the regions.

The Herron long-term care facility was closed after the disaster that occurred there in 2020.
A coroner’s report into the deaths of the 47 seniors found the establishments had serious problems before the pandemic hit.
It also found the CIUSSS de l’Ouest de l’Ile “tolerated the intolerable.”
