Montreal Public Health taking over two Floralies seniors residences

Montreal Public Health is taking over the management of the Floralies private seniors residences after four seniors recently died of Strep A bacteria.
Allegations of abuse have also surfaced.
Quebec’s Health Ministry confirmed Montreal Public Health officials will temporarily manage the two Résidences Floralies locations in Lachine and LaSalle.
This gives them the power to ensure the quality of care and safety of the residents.

The two residences will be under provincial trusteeship for at least 180 days. And that can be extended.
At least six cases of Strep A have been confirmed so far – including the four who unfortunately died of it.
CIUSSS teams are on-site at both locations working to control the spread of Strep A.
Testing people and enforcing infection control measures similar to those used to control the spread of COVID-19.
