Montreal police (SPVM) say the UN’s conference on biodiversity — COP15 — that was held in the city Dec. 7 to 19, was a success in terms of public safety.
In a statement, SPVM said COP15 represented a colossal challenge for the organization due to the international scale of the event.
They noted thanks to the help from RCMP, the Integrated Security Group (GIS) and other agencies, all the necessary security personnel were in place ahead of time.

Throughout the course of the conference, 12 demonstrations took place in Montreal.
While hundreds of people gathered, police say no arrests were made at any point. However, they did note a pair of investigations have been opened due to incidents that took place at commercial locations.
