Montreal teen becoming major influence in Quebec’s dance industry

“I really like telling a story to my audience,” says Julianne May Falbo, who is inspiring many through dance. From ballet to hip hop, the teen shares her achievements. Pamela Pagano reports.

Montrealer Julianne May Falbo whose been dancing at L’Académie de Danse de Montréal since 3-years-old, is now inspiring many through her achievements on and off the stage.

At just 13-years-old, Falbo has already made a name for herself in the Quebec dance industry.

Landing many impressive gigs: like dancing on shows such as Star Académie, appearing in music videos and even competing solo and in groups since the age of seven.

Most recently rocking it in a reality tv dance competition.

“I really like telling a story to my audience. I want them to feel a certain type of emotion when I dance,” explained Falbo.

“I think my proudest accomplishment is being on Révolution with my team Hybrid. We worked really hard and we really had this special bond.”

When she dances, emotion truly fills the studio.

“She started here as a little tiny little girl, and I got to see her evolve and grow up into this beautiful dancer that she is today,” explained Melanie Hattam, owner of L’Académie de danse de Montréal.

And it’s not just Hattam. Falbo’s choreographer Alex Francoeur says, “I’m just proud of her because she’s becoming an artist. I think her biggest strength is anything you throw at her. She’s going to say, Yes, boss, I’m doing it.”

From her choreographers to her over 10,000 Instagram followers – everyone is amazed by how she works the stage.

Falbo says her favourite style is lyrical dance. Where emotion can be expressed.

“I’m really proud of myself when I dance because I get to see the evolution.”
