New Porter airlines terminal to be built at Montreal’s Saint-Hubert Airport

The Saint-Hubert Airport on Montreal’s South Shore will be expanded with a new Porter Airlines terminal – at an estimated cost of $200 million.
The terminal is expected to handle more than four million passengers a year, with nine boarding gates for the 21,000 square-metre building – planning more than 10 possible domestic flights daily.
A 130-room Holiday Inn hotel will also be built near the Longueuil airport.
Porter’s commitment is the first step in creating an “aerospace hub” at St-Hubert, capable of serving travellers and including businesses, flight schools, training and research centers.
Ten potential routes are being looked at, including Vancouver and both Toronto airports – Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and Toronto Pearson International Airport.

“Saint-Hubert has incredible potential as a complementary secondary airport for Montréal, with a convenient location for a significant portion of the local market and also easy access to downtown Montréal,” said Michael Deluce, Porter’s president and CEO, in a statement.
“We have proven this concept at Billy Bishop, now one of the world’s best urban airports, and look forward to working with our partners at Saint-Hubert to help create a similar success story.”
The Toronto-based Porter will still maintain a presence at Trudeau airport – under its lease with Transport Canada, Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) still has an exclusivity clause for international flights.
Earlier this month, the city and airport reached an agreement to ban commercial flights from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting next year.
Work on the new terminal is planned to begin in the spring and and is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2024.
The project is expected to create more than 500 permanent jobs.
