CAQ: worst polling numbers in 4 years

The CAQ’s popularity appears to have dropped, according to a recent poll conducted by Léger-TVA.

Thirty-six per cent of Quebecers have indicated they would vote for the CAQ if an election was held today. It’s the worst polling data for François Legault’s party in four years.

A similar poll in February showed voter intentions at 40 per cent for the province’s governing party.

This poll comes after the CAQ announced on April 20 they were abandoning road lanes in the third link project, a highway tunnel connecting Quebec City to Lévis, instead keeping it exclusively for public transit.

The party to show the most increase in voter intention is the Parti Québecois. Twenty-two per cent of Quebecers said they would vote for the PQ – up two percentage points from three months ago.

The other parties showed little gains or losses in their polling numbers. Québec solidaire dropped to 16 per cent from 17, while the Liberal Party of Quebec remained at 14 per cent and the Conservative Party of Quebec moved up one percentage point to 10 from nine.

The poll was conducted between April 28 and May 1 involving 1,201 Quebecers 18 years and older with an oversampling of the Quebec City area of 200 respondents.
