Heat wave continues for Montreal area

A mix of sun and clouds for the Montreal area today, with a 40 per cent chance of showers this afternoon and a risk of a thunderstorm – as the year’s first heat wave continues.

Highs of 31°C, but feeling more like 36°C with the humidex. UV index 7 or high.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch and ended it by 5:30 p.m.

The weather agency’s special weather statement was also in effect most of the day, but they say a return to seasonal values is expected on Saturday with a high of 21°C. Average temperatures for this time of year closer to 21.7°C. The UV index at 8 or very high.

“During high heat events, drink lots of water even before feeling thirsty. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly, persons with chronic underlying medical conditions and those working or exercising outdoors are at higher risk. Never leave people or pets in a parked vehicle.”

Sunday, temperatures steady at 22°C.

Cloudy on Monday and 21°C.

Then rain forecasted next week with a high of 20°C on Tuesday and a 60 per cent chance of showers Wednesday with 20°C.

A mix of sun and cloud with more rain possible on Thursday. High 22°C expected.
