Three men were seriously injured by gunfire following an argument between two groups outside bars at Quartier Dix30 in Brossard early Saturday morning.

The victims, between 28 and 38 years old, were in stable condition in hospital.

“Around 2:30 a.m. there was a group of people heading towards the parking lot of Dix30 and at that time a second group of men approached and shots were fired,” said Ghyslain Vallières, a spokesperson for Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL).

Two suspects, aged 23 and 33, were arrested and detained at SPAL headquarters.

“As to whether they knew each other, the nature of the altercation and whether they are known to police circles, our investigators are checking these elements,” said Vallières.

A mobile command post and the SPAL forensic identification section were on site. Investigators were to meet witnesses as well as the victims.

A very large security perimeter, “about a hundred square meters”, was erected to facilitate the work of the police. Some businesses were open in the area, but not all of them.

“Quartier Dix30 is very, very big. We have to determine how many projectiles were used and where the casings of these projectiles are. Then, there are other elements (of evidence) that must be seized at the scene,” said Vallières.

Vallières said there could be other arrests, and the motive for the crime is unknown.

The SPAL investigation is continuing.
