A 50-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Danielle Lascelles.
The two were partners, according to a family member’s account and various media reports. Some reports identified them as ex-partners.
The body of Lascelles, 67, was found in her apartment on De la Résidence Street in Saint-Jérôme on Feb. 27. She was killed sometime between Feb. 22 and Feb. 27, according to the charge sheet.
Her death is considered the seventh femicide in Quebec this year.

Quebec provincial police said a man who was at the scene was taken to hospital and would be interviewed by investigators “when his condition allows.” He was arrested Monday afternoon.
Police did not release his identity.
In a Facebook post, the woman’s brother Benoit Lascelles said she was “killed by her partner.”
“At least, that’s the information we received from the family,” he wrote. Benoit also said his sister recently lost her son.
“May God protect you from the cold and may your soul soar to join your son… Your suffering is behind you now. Fly among all those magical landscapes.”
Patrick Clavel, from Saint-Jérôme, was charged with second-degree murder. The allegation against him has not been tested in court.
