Montreal pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by a car

MONTREAL – A pedestrian was transported to a Montreal hospital in critical condition after being struck by a car in the east end of the city Wednesday night.

The Montreal police force (SPVM) reports that the incident occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Hochelaga Street near the intersection of Aird Avenue, in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

According to information gathered by police, the motorist was travelling east on Hochelaga when they hit the pedestrian. The victim, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital by paramedics.

The 27-year-old driver was not injured.

A security perimeter was set up and the investigation is ongoing.
