Earthquake felt in Montreal area

Areas of Montreal, the Montérégie, and Lanaudière were shaken by a magnitude 3.4 earthquake, Sunday evening.

Many Montreal residents, as well as those living in Repentigny, Longueuil, and Mascouche reported the earthquake.

People also took to social media to share that they had felt the earthquake, or to inquire if what they had experienced was indeed one.

The epicenter of the earthquake, felt from Montreal to Longueuil, was located 10 km deep, Earthquakes Canada reported.

The slight earthquake that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. was located approximately 25 kilometers northeast of Montreal.

No damages were reported, which is normal for such a low-magnitude earthquake.
