Operation Red Nose begins preparations for 40th annual campaign

Operation Red Nose will be returning to Quebec for its 40th year in 2023.

Operation Red Nose is an annual campaign that helps drivers who may have had too much to drink get home safely during the holiday season.

Volunteers will be giving people across Montreal rides home in their own vehicles to prevent them from drinking and driving.

The campaign is offered in 100 communities across Canada from November 24 to December 31.

Since it first began in 1984, the campaign has provided safe rides to over 2.4 million people.

“In 40 annual campaigns, Operation Red Nose has witnessed the incredible dedication of thousands of volunteers, in a powerful testimony of solidarity. Their commitment is the pillar of our organization’s success and helps keep road safety at the heart of our preoccupations during the festive period of the year,” says Jean-Marie De Koninck, Founding President of Operation Red Nose.

The organization is also looking for more volunteers. Anyone interested in signing up can visit the Red Nose website.

“The SAAQ has been a proud supporter of Operation Red Nose since its inception. Both our organizations share a common goal: to make Quebec’s roads safer. In December, as throughout the year, it is important to remember that if you have consumed alcohol or drugs, even in moderate quantities, it is always safer not to drive and to opt for a responsible and safe alternative, such as Operation Red Nose,” said Mr. Éric Ducharme, President and Chief Executive Officer of the SAAQ.

Operation Red Nose will operate in the following regions in 2023:
