22-year-old in critical condition after assault in Plateau

Montreal police are searching for a suspect after a 22-year-old man was allegedly assaulted in the Plateau early Friday morning.

Officers were called to the scene at about 3:45 a.m. at the intersection of Clark street and Guilbault west street, after receiving reports of an unconscious man.

Police believe an altercation took place during which the suspect struck the victim in the upper body, causing him to lose consciousness.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

No arrests have been made.

A security perimeter was established as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the assault. Police will also review surveillance camera footage from the area.
