Final votes for Common Front on Tuesday

By Lia Lévesque, The Canadian Press

The public sector Common Front is holding its final meeting Tuesday to vote on the agreement in principle that was reached in December with the Quebec government to renew the collective agreements.

They union represent 420,000 members in the health and education sectors.

Votes will be held Monday and Tuesday – and the first meeting took place on Jan. 15.

After all the meetings have concluded, the intermediate bodies of the member organization of the Common Front will meet for the results.

The Common Front, which is made up of the CSN, CSQ, APTS and FTQ, is expected to announce the results at the end of next week.

The agreement in principle reached in December provides for a 17.4 per cent increase over five years, in addition to an inflation protection clause for the last three years of the collective agreements.
