Granby Zoo union members 10-day strike mandate

Union members at Granby Zoo created a 10-day strike mandate.

The strike could be divided into half-days, full days or consecutive days, the union announced on Thursday.

There are around 130 workers who are members of the Fédération du commerce union; affiliated with the CSN. The employees are compiled of office staff, animal care technicians, mechanics, carpenters, etc.

The union reported that some of their disputes include seasonal employment status and access to positions based on seniority.

Their collective agreement expired in December 2023.

The parties have held 14 negotiation sessions, including four in conciliation. However, negotiations have not stopped; further dates are planned for July.
