FSQ members accept agreement in principle with Quebec

By The Canadian Press

Members of the Fédération de la santé du Québec (FSQ), affiliated with the CSQ, have approved the agreement in principle with Quebec, the union announced Friday.

According to the FSQ, 80.4 per cent of members who voted approved the agreement in principle, that was made with the Treasury Board on June 21. The agreement in principle was submitted to members at general meetings until Thursday.

“After over 20 months of negotiations, the members decided to move in this direction while the challenges are major in the health network,” indicated the FSQ, in a press release published Friday.

“Although this new agreement marks an improvement for healthcare workers, there is still a long way to go,” said FSQ President Isabelle Dumaine. “The network challenges are more present than ever, and we will have to roll up our sleeves in the coming months to counter the labor shortage and promote staff retention.”

The FSQ-CSQ represents more than 5,000 nurses, nursing assistants and respiratory therapists in the regions of Laval, Côte-Nord, Nord-du-Québec, Gaspésie, and Montreal.
