Drug trafficking in Montreal: 36 kg of cocaine seized, 5 suspects arrested

Montreal police arrested five suspects last week in an operation they say is aimed at dismantling a drug trafficking network operating mainly in the west end of Montreal.

The arrests were made in Pointe-Claire, downtown, TMR and Anjou. Police say searches resulted in the seizure of 36 kilograms of cocaine, $236,305 in cash, and three watches worth $65,000.

The suspects range in age from 29 to 58. The SPVM says four suspects were arrested on Oct. 2, and the fifth was arrested on Oct. 4.

Police say all five could face charges of possession and trafficking of narcotics.
