By News Staff

The body found in a Montreal park on Oct. 30 was that of kidnapping victim and cryptocurrency influencer Kevin Mirshahi, according to provincial police.

Mirshahi was kidnapped on June 21 from a condo building in Old Montreal on de la Commune Street near Saint-Hubert Street.

Three other people were kidnapped at the same time. They were found at a bus stop a day later, unharmed, but Mirshahi remained missing.

The 25-year-old is said to have owned and operated a private paid Telegram group called “Crypto Paradise Island.”

In late August, police arrested and charged a woman in connection with his death. Joanie Lepage, 32, is facing charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Police believe Mirshahi was killed on the day of the kidnapping. His body was found in the Île-de-la-Visitation nature park in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
