Man, 42, shot in Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve apartment

A 42-year-old man was shot and injured in an apartment building in Montreal’s Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough early Monday morning.

Montreal police were notified around 3:30 a.m. to shots fired in a residential building on Bossuet Street, near Sherbrooke Street.

Police officers dispatched to the scene located the victim, who was injured in the upper body.

The 42-year-old man was transported to a hospital, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police say the suspect entered the building to open fire on the victim before fleeing.

At least one shell casing was found on the ground by police officers.

The canine unit has been mobilized to the scene and investigators are working to analyze the scene and try to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
