The Longueuil police (SPAL) announced Monday that they have implemented a new online report filing service, for many non-urgent events.
Instead of having to go in person to a police station in the Longueuil area, some reports can be done through the web.
For example: online property damage of $5,000 or less, damage to a vehicle, theft of $5,000 or less (without breaking and entering), and theft from a vehicle.
The SPAL assures the public that the information collected online will remain confidential.
The event must follow certain guidelines to be able to file online including: the event has already occurred, the event occurred or took place in the Longueuil area, no suspect has been identified.
SPAL provided a video to explain how to fill out the online report.
The Montreal and Quebec police departments have been offering this service for several years.
