A French airline specializing in low-cost long-haul flights has announced its arrival on Quebec soil with a direct Montreal-Paris route starting April 30.
French bee is expanding its network in North America, after having developed routes between the French capital and several American cities, such as New York, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco.
For the launch of its Montreal-Trudeau—Paris-Orly route, the company, which has existed since 2016, is offering for a limited time a basic round-trip fare of $449 in economy class, including one piece of cabin baggage.
The price may increase depending on the options selected by passengers, whether for checked baggage, seat type, priority boarding or meals.
French bee is planning four weekly flights between the two cities. A fifth will be added in July and August to meet the increased demand during the summer season.
The operator has already sold 15,000 tickets “without having made any communication here on the Quebec market,” said Gregory Jamet, executive vice-president of French bee.
“It’s beyond our expectations,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday to officially announce French bee’s arrival in Montreal.
