Two suspects in connection with a stabbing that took place last August were arrested by Montreal police (SPVM) earlier this month.
A 25-year-old suspect was arrested Jan. 18, while a 24-year-old suspect was arrested Jan. 22.
Both appeared in court on the day of their respective arrests and faced charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Police say an alleged altercation on Aug. 25, 2024, in Paix Park in downtown Montreal ended with a victim being hospitalized after suffering what appeared to be several knife injuries.
“(The victim) was walking in the company of an unknown person. An altercation then broke out between the unknown person and the first suspect,” the SPVM said in a press release. “Moments later, the first suspect allegedly pushed the victim to the ground and hit them. The second suspect then attacked them with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries.”
Police have conducted searches of the suspects’ homes and seized what they have deemed to be evidence.
The two suspects will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
