Attempted arson at home in Montreal North overnight

By News Staff

A winter car shelter at a Montreal North home was damaged overnight from what police believe was an attempted arson.

After receiving a 911 call at 2 a.m. Wednesday, Montreal police (SPVM) made their way to the scene on des Roses Street, near Jules-Auclair, where officers then used a fire extinguisher to put out the beginning of a fire.

The SPVM told CityNews that damage to the structure is minor and the vehicle parked inside was not damaged.

Officers also said that incendiary materials were found at the scene — further pointing to an attempted arson.

The investigation has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson squad.
