The Treasury Board has just submitted a new offer to CSN union members in early childhood centers, in the hope of avoiding the two other days of strikes planned for next Tuesday and Wednesday.
It was the President of the Treasury Board, Sonia LeBel, who announced this on Thursday afternoon.
At the same time, the minister called on the Fédération de la santé et des services sociaux, affiliated with the CSN, which represents them, “to intensify negotiations in the interests of parents and children.”
These employees work in more than 400 early childhood centers in Quebec.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday, they will be on their fourth and fifth days of strike action, within their five-day strike mandate. They are also scheduled to meet on this occasion to discuss toughening their strike mandate.
The Treasury Board says it is ready to negotiate all weekend, if necessary, to reach an agreement with the FSSS.
The other union organizations representing childcare workers, which are affiliated with the CSQ and the FTQ, have reached agreements in principle with Quebec. These agreements have already been ratified by their members, with proportions ranging from 66 per cent to 100 per cent.
