Body recovered from St. Lawrence River in Montreal’s east end

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a body was pulled from the St. Lawrence River in the city’s east end on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers received a phone call around noon from the Montreal fire department requesting aid after the body was discovered.

“The police service was required to assist them and at that time the body was recovered,” Julien Lévesque, a SPVM spokesperson, told CityNews.

“It’s an unknown body, not identifiable,” he added.

A coroner will be charged with identifying the individual.

An investigation is ongoing.
