Longueuil police chase ends in crash at St-Hubert garage

A 42-year-old man was arrested Sunday night after leading Longueuil police on a brief chase that ended with his vehicle crashing into a parked car at a mechanic’s garage in St-Hubert.

Police say the incident began around 10 p.m., when patrol officers attempted to intercept a driver for erratic behaviour on Montarville Blvd. near the Steel Expressway. The suspect fled and ultimately crashed into a stationary vehicle on Chemin Chambly, at Martineau Street.

Though no injuries were reported, the suspect was taken to hospital for evaluation. His passenger, also in his 40s, was not injured. The driver remains in custody and is expected to face charges that include impaired driving.

The pursuit caused minor damage to two police cruisers and a broken lamppost, according to Longueuil police.
