Highway 40 lanes closing July 9 for major work

Part of Highway 40 will be closed starting July 9 for redevelopment work on the Ruisseau de Feu, Transport Quebec announced Tuesday.
Lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. on July 9 and continue overnight until 5 a.m. on July 10. Additional closures are scheduled from 9 a.m. on July 10 until 5 a.m. on July 11, followed by another closure from 9 p.m. July 11 to 7 a.m. July 12.
Starting 10 p.m. July 12, traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions. Multiple ramps will also close, including the ramp from Chemin des Quarante-Arpents to Highway 40 westbound, ramps between Highway 40 westbound and Highway 640 in both directions, and exit 94 (Route 344, Terrebonne, Chemin Saint-Charles) from Highway 40 westbound.
These closures will remain in effect until 8 a.m. July 13, when traffic in both directions will be diverted onto eastbound Highway 40. This temporary traffic pattern will continue until the work is complete, after which traffic will be redirected to westbound Highway 40 until the end of August.

Transport Quebec says the speed limit will be reduced to 70 km/h for the duration of the project.
To ease congestion, dynamic lane management will be in effect. This allows three of five lanes to flow in the peak traffic direction during rush hours — westbound from midnight to 10 a.m., and eastbound from noon to 10 p.m.
Transport Quebec reminds drivers to obey all signage and drive carefully. The ministry also warns that work schedules may change due to weather or operational factors.
