Montreal under severe thunderstorm watch

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Greater Montreal area on Thursday.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” ECCC said. “Nautical activities may be hazardous due to sudden, severe wind gusts on bodies of water.”
They warn that there is a risk of localized flash flooding this afternoon and this evening, and that local utility outages are possible.
“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain,” explained ECCC.
Aside from the 60 per cent chance of these thundershowers happening on Thursday, the day is also being filled with a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 27°C. Temperatures are expected to dip down to 18°C tonight.
Skies are set to clear on Friday with a high of 29°C but feeling more like 35°C with the humidex.
ECCC then forecasting Saturday to be a beautiful one — sunny with a high of 30°C.
Then a 60 per cent chance of showers returning on Sunday but it’s expected to be hot, hot, hot with 31°C.
As of now, rain should to be moving back into the region on Monday.
